The Library Learning Center (LLC) is a space intended for library instruction and other library activities. Its primary purpose is to instruct students in information literacy and that takes precedence for scheduling. Other users should contact the Canisius Events Management office to reserve a space that is appropriate to the request. If no other space is available or if there is a pressing reason for the event to be held in the library, entities outside the library may request to use the Library Learning Center. Those requests will be considered using the following criteria:
Requests are more likely to be approved if they are for evening or weekend hours because the demand for library instruction is lower at those times.
When an event has been approved, it is the organizers’ responsibility to configure the space as needed and to return the space to the condition in which it is found.
If the event organizers use any of the technology in the Library Learning Center, they will need to make arrangements in advance for a library staff member to unlock the equipment and help with set up. If the library staff are not available or if there are technology needs other than simple projection from a computer, the organizers will need to contact the Media Center for assistance. It is the event organizers’ responsibility to make sure all technology has been turned off and secured when the event is over.
If the event organizers need food service, it is their responsibility to contact Chartwells to make arrangements for catering needs. The library does not supply linens, dishware, or other catering-related items. Event organizers are responsible for cleaning up and removing all food service items after the event.
